Everest Trail Race
News Release / 05.04.2012

The EVEREST TRAIL RACE has opened registrations for the second edition, to be held between 11 and 23 November this year.
After the great success achieved in the inaugural 2011 edition, where the winners were David Ruíz and Mónica Aguilera, the race organization is repeating this exceptional challenge on what is without doubt one of the racing world´s most spectacular trails, specially designed for those who want to discover new horizons in the world of mountain races.
For the 2012 edition there are some changes in relation to the previous race, giving even more spectacular views and addressing environment concerns.
Everest and Lohtse, with more than 8000 m. altitude tower over the course along with iconic mountains like Ama Dablam, Tamserku or Kangtega, and a large number of Himalayan giants. Definitely a unique environment for a absolutely outstanding race.
The race, as in the previous edition, is divided into 6 stages from 20 to 32 km. to a total distance of about 165 km.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the race is not so much the distance as the elevation gain, a total of 25,600m, from 3100 m. up to 5900 m in the maximum accumulated height stage.
The organization had in mind, like in 2011, the peak of the race, in order to avoid problems from the height, not exceeding in any case the 4100 m.
