The North Face And The Fellsman Forge Ahead In 2012

The North Face are pleased to announce their continued support of the Fellsman which will take place in the Yorkshire Dales on 28th & 29th April 2012.
The Fellsman is seen as one of the toughest endurance running events in the UK. The route will see 500 competitors set off from Ingleton on the grueling 60 mile route, climbing over 11,000 feet and traversing very hard rugged moorland on their way to Threshfield. The winning time is likely to be around 10 hours but many will take up to 30 hours.
Returning to the event this year is The North Face sponsored athlete Jez Bragg who will be hoping to defend his title and perhaps shave a little off the record of 10 hrs 6 mins he set in 2011.
“I'm delighted to be running this year's Fellsman and joining in the celebrations for the 50th anniversary event. It's remarkable to think the event has been going so long and continues to go from strength to strength with sell out fields and brilliant organisation. The real draw of the Fellsman is the true test it provides not only through the distance involved, but also the wild terrain, navigation and elements of self sufficiency.
“It's a great test for any endurance enthusiast and it seems to lure me back time after time like it does many others. Setting the record last year was a big highlight of my season, but I know the standard of competition will be even greater this year, as will the expectation to do something special in the 50th anniversary year. As ever the weather forecast will play a big part, and plenty of respect for the course is also an absolute must to even finish. One thing's for sure - it's going to be another great event”, he commented.
In addition to the mandatory kit list, every runner will have their preferred gear for this type of race. Depending on the weather conditions Jez will be wearing his Better than Naked S/S Crew, Better than Naked Short and his trusty Singletrack II trail shoes.
