Nell McAndrew Lends Support to the 2012 Soldier Challenge
News Release / 04.05.2012

Fitness supremo and model Nell McAndrew is urging people to get behind the Soldier Challenge and follow in her winning footsteps. At last year’s first ever Soldier Challenge, Nell was part of the winning team – the team who completed the most tasks, drills and challenges within the four hour event window.
This year, the second annual Soldier Challenge takes place on Saturday 19 May 2012 with teams departing from an event village in London Waterloo’s station former international terminal.
Nell McAndrew explains:
"I took part in the very first Soldier Challenge with a team of super-fit soldiers last year and I had an amazing day filled with lots of different challenges across London. The event is a great opportunity to raise money for ABF The Soldiers' Charity and support a cause that is very close to my heart. I'm disappointed to not be able to take part this year's event but it's not too late for people to register and I urge people to take on the fun and exciting Challenges to experience some of the capital's most historical landmarks in ways that are usually off limits. You don't have to run fast, the fun is an important part of the Challenge too, and there are plenty of different and hilarious tasks to enjoy!"
Key to successfully completing the Soldier Challenge is effective planning to decide which challenges to take on, and which route to follow. A comprehensive map is issued to all teams when the full list of all event Challenges are revealed and as part of the pre-Challenge briefing.
The Soldier Challenge is a fundraising event testing the planning, fitness and fun of hundreds of teams of competitors and takes place throughout the Capital. Competitors complete as many of 35 military-themed tasks as possible during a four hour window. Tasks range from checkpoints and drills, to more extreme events such as abseiling down London landmarks and kayaking in the River Thames.
The event is open to teams of between two and four people. Participants must be aged 14 or over. Entry costs £50 and participants are asked to raise £150 each. Anyone who hits this minimum fundraising target will have £15 of their entry fee refunded back to them.
