2013 Adventure Racing European Championships Set for Poland in January

Our friends in Poland have sent us some details of next year’s Adventure Racing European Championships, which is unusual as it’s a winter event taking place at the start of the year (in January). The race is also the first chance to get a paid for place at the Adventure Race World Champs in Costa Rica in December – if you win!  Here are the details:

When? 23-27 January 2013

Where? Regietów near Gorlice, south of Poland (Beskid Niski)

Who?  Mixed teams of four (European Championships, long course), teams of two (short course)

Distance?  About 450-500 km, time limit - 82 hrs (long course), about 150 km, time limit - 34 hrs short course)

Disciplines?  Running/trekking, biking, cross-country skiing, navigation, special tasks, horse riding - that is for the long course only)

Cost?  500/700 EUR (long course), +- 100/125 EUR (short course). "Special offer" till 31st of December, 2012

Prizes?    - Free entry fee for ARWC' 2013 for winners of the long course.

  - Prizes, cups and so for best teams.

 - An adventure in the most remote areas in Poland for all.

Who is going to come? I suppose that many oteams will as it is a qualifier for the World Champs '2013 in Costa Rica. Winners get an entry fee for free, so you may spare some $6000

Anyway - there will be teams from Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Russia, Denmark, Holand, Germany... maybe from Finland, Estonia, Latvia, France, Spain, Sweden. We don't know yet - as the registration process just started. But it should be 15-20 teams of four at least - plus at least another 25-35 teams for the short course.
