MountainBIKE Champions Trophy Launched
News Release / 06.12.2012

A premiere for a completely novel mountainbike event!
For the first time from May 8-11, 2013, the "MountainBIKE Champions Trophy" is put in bold letters on the racing calendar of the International Cycling Union UCI. Both professional and amateur teams will compete to be awarded as (still inofficial) team world champions (in 2013 already a UCI S2 status). Similar to the Tour de France in the racing cycling there are several disciplines here too.
The starting signal for the "MountainBIKE Champions Trophy" will be given on May 8, 2013 with an individual time trial in Bayrischzell (GER). From there on a cross country marathon stage leads the participants to the Lake Achen, where a team time trial is on the program on the next day. The four-day mountain spectacle finishes with a so-called eliminator that demands once again everything from the cyclists and will impress the spectators.
Each team must start off with at least three cyclists and they must complete together all four races. No easy task for the athletes who usually concentrate on one discipline in the world cup calendar. But only the most balanced team has a chance in the end to take home the prize of 20,000 euros. Anyway, all mountainbike fans can be now curious whether a professional team will have a lead over the others or an amateur team will achieve something great at the premiere of the "MountainBIKE Champions Trophy" from May 8- 11, 2013.
The "MountainBIKE Champions Trophy" is organized by the event agency Plan B from Munich that made a name for itself with various cycling and running formats in the entire Alps region in the last years. "We're so happy that we can realize this so far unique event together with the Motor Presse Stuttgart. Our goal is to establish the MountainBike Champions Trophy as a team world championship and have almost all professional teams at the starting line who will compete side by side with ambitious amateurs for the future official team world champion title. The preparations for the premiere run at full speed and numerous teams have already ensured their participation", Heini Albrecht, CEO of the Plan B event company GmbH, said.
The registration for the "MountainBIKE Champions Trophy" is open as of now!
