Untamed New England Returns To Sugarloaf & Carrabassett Valley For 2013 Adventure Race

Untamed Adventure Racing, known for world class endurance events, selected Sugarloaf and Carrabassett Valley to host their two day multisport adventure race combining trail running, mountain biking, orienteering, and more for June 21-23, 2013.

Untamed New England first came to the Carrabassett Valley for a race in 2012 and found the combination of challenging terrain, high mountain vistas, and accommodating local residents presented an ideal venue for adventure racing. For 2013, the racecourse is designed to be accessible to a wider audience of athletes: 24 hours in duration, the race is 3 days shorter than the signature Untamed New England Expedition Race and is less intimidating to novice adventurers.

Furthermore, Untamed Adventure is introducing a 6 hour event to run side by side with the 24 hour event. The “Sugarloaf Solo” race will be a gateway to adventure racing without complications like mountain biking or racing through the night. The Sugarloaf Solo race begins at noon on June 22nd and ends 6 hours later, and will be completed entirely on foot in the mountains around Sugarloaf.

About 24 hours of Untamed New England Adventure Race:

The 24 hours of Untamed New England is a 24 hour version of the bigger Untamed New England Expedition Race. In the 24 hour version, racers mountain bike, paddle, run, orienteer, through a rugged wilderness course. The race route is kept secret from racers until just before the race start; then, with much anticipation, the course is revealed and the competition begins quickly thereafter.
