Augusta and Lorne Adventure Fest Entries Open April 10
News Release / 04.04.2013

Rapid Ascent is proud to announce the re-branding and opening of entries for the 2013 Augusta Adventure Fest and Lorne Adventure Fest (formally known as the Anaconda Adventure National Series).
The popular Adventure Fests’ will open for online entries at 12:00pm AEST on Wednesday 10 April, 2013 with Augusta set to reach capacity within two days.
Known as the biggest adventure race in the world with over 3,300 competitors across the weekend the Augusta Adventure Fest in Western Australia will be held on 2-3 November; whilst its sister race, the Lorne Adventure Fest will take place on 7-8 December at one of Victoria’s favourite coastal resort locations.
The Adventure Fests’ have become a genuine institution across Australia, taking in Augusta and Lorne’s stunning ocean and hinterland wilderness with four off-road disciplines including trail running, mountain biking, ocean kayaking and swimming. Both locations will once again include the three race formats:
· Augusta/Lorne Adventure Race: the premier race for the more experienced (or the more determined!) adventure racer over a 63km course (Augusta) and 50km course (Lorne), including ocean swimming, kayaking, mountain biking and trail running.
· Augusta/Lorne Mini Adventure Race: a half distance race ideal for younger competitors and first timers, designed to provide a taste of adventure without the intimidating distances involved in the full length version.
· Augusta/Lorne Junior Survivor: A 4km running and obstacle course for kids aged 4 to 13. The super fun adventure challenge gives kids a dose of off-road excitement!
After a successful inauguration in 2012, the Mini Adventure Race events are expected to become even more popular as they provide a pathway into the sport; designed to be easier and more achievable for newcomers, and female participation, without the need of endless hours of training and commitment.
Hailed as the most popular adventure racing series in Australia by participation, the premier and mini races are open to individuals and relay teams; and will include the well received female-only start in the mini races.
With regret however, the Noosa Adventure Race will not be going ahead in 2013 due circumstances beyond our control. Rapid Ascent are keen to secure a new sponsor for our Queensland Adventure Race in future years.
So mark your diaries –12:00pm AEST on Wednesday 10 April, 2013 - for the launch of the 2013 Augusta and Lorne Adventure Fests, with plenty of new highlights, course improvements, prizes and initiatives promising another stellar year of adventure racing.

· Lorne Adventure Fest – December 7-8, 2013
