Munich, September 16, 2013 – One of the world's most fascinating mountain bike stage races comes up with a novelty for next summer. In 2014, the Craft BIKE Transalp powered by Sigma will feature only seven stages. From July 20 thru 26, racers however will still have to tackle 600 kilometres and about 18,000 metres in elevation gain from Oberammergau to Riva del Garda.

It's the first time in history that the route gets cut down from eight to seven stages. Race Director Marc Schneider knows why:

“We wanted to meet the wish of many participants to adapt the sportive challenge of the past years to the actual amateur's level of performance. The teams will have more fun now and still get their money's worth with some 600 kilometres and 18,000 metres in elevation gain.”

The online registration opens on December 10, 2013, at 12 PM.

About the Craft BIKE Transalp powered by Sigma

The Craft Bike Transalp powered by Sigma is one of the most famous stage races for mountain bike teams of two. Since its first edition in 1998 till 2013, the routing led in eight stages from Germany across the main chain of the Alps to Italy.

In 2014, the classic will feature only seven stages for the first time in history. From July 20 thru 26, the routing will lead over 600 kilometres and 18,000 metres in elevation gain from Oberammergau to Riva del Garda. The exact stage set-up will be revealed in the next couple of weeks.
