The North Face Gets Ratty
28.02.2005

Keith Byrne, The North Face Marketing Manager and himself a professional adventure racer, comments: "We are hugely excited to be the major sponsor of the Rat Race, particularly with the new events starting this year which are going to be even bigger and better than last year. These are unique activities to happen in city centres and there is a real buzz about them as word gets out about the Races - they really do have to be seen to be believed.â€
"Our own The North Face Adventure Racing team took part in last year's event and finished in third place. We will again be taking part but can certainly expect no favours as a sponsor.â€
"Our sponsorship package includes supplying uniforms for the 350 marshals, and 1,700 race jerseys for competitors. We are also offering a prize purse of £9,000 worth of The North Face equipment which is sure to be hotly contested. (Prizes are available to the top three teams at each event.) We are sure that the public will respond fantastically to the series to both take part and come to watch and sample the atmosphere from the fringe."
Jim Mee, of Rat Race Adventures commented: "We are delighted to have such an influential outdoors brand as The North Face supporting us. Its fresh involvement will guarantee to raise the profile of the event and at the same time allow the Rat Race to put in more challenging and exciting events. As a result we are sure the new events in Manchester and Bristol will be as well received as the popular event in Edinburgh last year."
The Rat Race Urban Adventure Series in conjunction with The North Face runs in Bristol on 11-12 June, Edinburgh on 16-17 July and Manchester on 6 August. For more information visit www.ratraceadventure.com
