Heads.up, mountain.bikers! The.premiere.of the.Zugspitz MTB.Trophy from.6.to 8.June 2014.is.the outcome.of a.collaborative effort.by.event agencies.PLAN B.and VIVALPIN and.the wholehearted.backing of.no less.than three.top riding.destinations: the.Bavarian Zugspitz-Region,.the Tyrolean.Zugspitz Arena,.and the.townships of Grainau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The event.offers a wide variety of competitive rides that.should suit the dizzying diversity of riders out there.- from experts on steep climbs, XC strategists.to MTB marathonistas. For.renaissance riders who excel.at all these disciplines,.the event is clearly.a must! Irrespective of.riding preference or experience, the.Zugspitz MTB Trophy.is about sharing.fat-tire enjoyment with.like-minded individuals who cultivate.an amiable competitive.edge.

The weekend.event starts out with a.bang on Friday aft.when the gun sounds.the start to the.XC UPHILL, a demanding mountain.sprint. No less than.750 m of vertical.gain over a distance.of 10 km lie ahead of.the competitors, nothing for.the faint-of-heart. Saturday is packed.with two race events.for good measure – the.morning INDIVIDUAL TIMER TRIALS.and later in the.day.the XC.POINT.TO.POINT RACE..While.seconds.will.decide on.glory.or.failed hopes.on.the.5.km-morning course.through.the.resort community.of.Lermoos, stamina and resilience will determine the victors in the afternoon race from Tyrol, Austria to.Bavaria, Germany. By the time of their arrival, riders will have 25 km in their legs on top.of another 850 m of cumulative.climbing.

Participants in Sunday's races will.revel in the limelight as.the SCOTT Zugspitz Marathon, a loop.around the imposing Wetterstein Range, undoubtedly marks.the highlight of the event weekend..Racers have the option between three courses.that differ in distance and vertical.gain but all end up.in Garmisch-Partenkirchen,.Germany. The.shorter of.the three.XC Marathon.courses starts.in Lermoos.and covers.59 km.en route.to Garmisch-Partenkirchen - not.to mention the.1,215 m.of vertical along.the way..The intermediate distance.accounts for.a burn accrued.over 78 km.and 2,100.m of cumulative.climbing. And.the complete loop around.the mountain massif.salts away 110.km and 2,984.m of climbing.(coincidentally also the.elevation of Germany's.highest peak) in.sweat and tears..

Apart from the actual races at the.various venues around the Zugspitz massif, a busy schedule of.sportive side events is in store. It should keep visitors.and spectators in the resort communities.of Lermoos,.Grainau.and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.well entertained.over.the weekend..Skills.clinics will.be.on offer.by Karen.and.Holger Meyer,.renowned veterans of MTB racing..Some of these sessions will be.aimed at proficient race participants while others.would appear to be best suited.for ambitious beginners.
