Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon Back for 20th Anniversary

News Release / 23.12.2013See All Event Posts Follow Event

The LAMM organising team is re-charged and raring to go after our one year sabbatical. As one of our regular competitors said - "if Glastonbury can take a year off, you can too".  We are grateful for your patience and support.

Please come and join us again for the 20th Anniversary LAMM at another secret and iconic location in the Scottish Highlands.  Our event is a 2 day mountain navigation journey with an isolated midcamp, is full of surprises and can be enjoyed on many levels.   Those of you who take part regularly will know that our ethos has always been to provide an adventure that slowly unravels from the time you enter online until you complete the event on the Sunday.  We can tell you now that LAMM 2014 will be a middle to north of Scotland event and we'll provide "a little more detail" about the venue when the final land permissions are agreed.

As usual you'll get the sense that you are undertaking a big mountain journey across huge tracts of Scottish Mountain country. There is a lot more to the LAMM than a long orienteering event criss-crossing the hills. Scaling big mountains is the hallmark of the LAMM, sets it apart from other Mountain Marathons and makes it both unique and special - the  Connoisseurs Mountain Marathon.

As well as attracting Europe's top Elite competitors, we welcome less competitive teams who relish a 2 day walking journey, navigating their way along a high level route through beautiful Scottish Mountain scenery.  We provide 5 linear courses from Elite to D and also the Score course.  The only pre-requisite is an ability to navigate and travel safely in the mountains.

New Junior Category in D Course

This year we are also providing a separate Junior category on the D course which is targetted at juniors aged 16 and 17 who are partnered by a parent or guardian.  There will be special male and female junior handicap prize which is based on the exact age of the junior (not the parent!)

Event is Filling Fast

Entries have been open for a few weeks now and although it isn't yet Christmas, the event is already 20% fullPlease visit http://www.lamm.co.uk to find out more and to secure your place.  We are providing a£5 Early Entry Discount until the New Year, so it's best to try to plan ahead!

The LAMM always fills to capacity so please enter early and claim your early-bird discount.  After the event fills, we'll create a Waiting List so that as few LAMMers as possible are disappointed.

News From Sponsors Our Sponsors Lowe Alpine

We are delighted that Lowe Alpine will continue their sponsorship and enthusiastic support of LAMM. Lowe Alpine has been a great sponsor ever since the first event at Arrochar in 1994. Many thanks from the organisers and competitors alike for a top commitment to people, enjoying adventures in the mountains.
