Saab Salomon Chill in Spain

Though maybe ‘warm up’ isn’t quite the right description as Spain was suffering another unseasonably cold-spell of the winter, the worst for fifty years. But though it was cold there was some to show off the scenery and remind the competitors that they were in the beautiful surroundings of the Costa Daurada, Catalonia.
The race included more than 100 kilometers of MTB in the Sierra de Miramar, 11km up-hill inline skating, a 39km long mountain running section by night, and an orienteering stage run in the Sierra de Rojals.
It was no surprise that Saab Salomon dominated during the entire race against local teams. Pete James, Bruce Duncan and Phil Davies, was superior on all the four disciplines, even though the Catalan team Aresa Salud was giving them a hard time until the very end. It was hoped the top French team Eafit.com would be there to challenge the British racers, but they couldn’t attend.
The Servidrum Adventure Masters was celebrating its 5th edition, having started as a local race, with a narrow based organization. This year it set it’s sights on the international level, as an “invitation-only†race. During the price-giving ceremony, Race Director Dani Buyó said, with the full agreement of all the racers, that for the next edition of Servidrum AM he will consider staging it in the month of August! It will be warmer then! Much warmer.
The final results were:
1. Saab Salomon (Great Britain)
2. Aresa Salud (Catalonia, Spain)
3. Expe Raids 1 (France)
4. Expe Raids 2 (France)
5. Esports Muntanya Star Bike (Catalonia, Spain)
