The annual Red Fox Adventure Race XIII powered by Polartec® will take place in one of the most unique and beautiful places in Europe - the Ladoga Skerries in the Karelia region on June 12-15, 2014.
Over its 10-years history expedition Red Fox Adventure Race has always provided its participants with a lot of impressions offering a fascinating test for survival. It is one of the first-rate extreme competitions which are reputed as the most prestige adventure races.
Red Fox Adventure Races always take place in the most picturesque and severe terrain. This year the race will be held in a wilderness area and one of the most popular tourist regions in Russia, the Northern Priladozhye (Karelia region) near "Lumivaaar's" settlement. The race center is at the Ladoga Lake shore in the recreation camp "Rantal" some 210 km north of St. Petersburg, at the boundary of Finland and Russia.
Course designer Vitaliy Chegarovskiy (master of orienteering) is well-known in the AR world and has more than 20-years experience of organization adventure races. He has prepared very interesting 48 hour and 72 hour non stop courses with hundreds kilometres of new adventures! One of the best local adventure racers Yury Borodulin has also helped with the preparation of the race routes. Yury used to be a regular participant of Red Fox AR, standing on the podium a number of times.
The competition will take place in two classes: "Short" 48 hours for teams of two or four racers, and "Long" 72 hours for teams of four. Distances represent four radial routes from the race center to return back into the center.
Participants will undertake five mountain bike stages, four paddling stages, bike coastering, two trekking laps with coastering along the Ladoga Lake shore, two forest treks, a rock-climbing stage on the wall of "The snake mountain", vertical orienteering, fixed rope routes and an "archery" stage.
The sequence of stages is regulated and on each stage there are obligatory check points which define minimum possible route and bonus check points giving the chance to pass the most extended and difficult distance. All stages have approximately identical complexity and assume the sure skills of racers in all necessary types of movement.
The competition, led by the strongest racers and enthusiasts, will turn into a spectacular race! You will have the unique chance to inhale the fresh air of white night and feel delight in the nature of the northern summer!
