World Number 2, Team Seagate, Confirmed to Race the Mountain Designs GeoQuest

The top New Zealand adventure racing team, Seagate, currently ranked number 2 in the world, and AR World Champions 2012, have confirmed they will race the Mountain Designs GeoQuest from 6-9 June this year. Such an high profile and successful team is sure to throw the cat amongst the pigeons at Australia's most competitive adventure race.
Team captain, Nathan Fa'avae, said "I've heard really good things about the event and am super keen to race".
Team Seagate will be up against the reigning champions of the race, team Macpac, who have dominated the race in recent years, winning for the last 4 years straight. Macpac captain Rob Preston said "I don't think they will have it all their way, there is a lot to learn racing GeoQuest and there isn't a team around that has as much experience in this race as us - between our team we have done something like 25-30 Geo's".
Some of Australia's other top teams such as Peakadventure.com.au , Mountain Designs and Outer Limits will be eyeing Seagate's performance at the 500km Expedition Africa just one week prior to the Mountain Designs GeoQuest. All will be hoping the team will be tired and that this will give home teams an advantage.
Team Seagate members include Nathan Fa'avae, Sophie Hart, Stu Lynch and new recruit Jacob Roberts. Seagate are one of the most experienced teams racing in the world today. Fa'avae, Hart and Lynch have all previously won Adventure Racing World Championship titles.
Race Director Craig Bycroft said "It will be great to have one of the best teams in the world at the event and I am looking forward to seeing how they handle the Australian conditions - and the Australian teams".
Mountain Designs GeoQuest 48hr is Australia's premier adventure race. It involves 48+hrs of non-stop endurance racing in the major disciplines of trekking, mountain biking and kayaking.
The 2014 Mountain Designs GeoQuest will be held on the North Coast of NSW.
