Multi-Sport Festival in Coastal Wonderland

Press Release / 27.03.2014
"The race is set around the awesome Turku Archipelago – a coastal wonderland of 20,000 islands, castles, neat wooden huts and friendly Finnish yokels."

The image British magazine FHM paints of Endurance Quest in its March issue is pretty spot on. Endurance Quest is an adventure race with lot of variation: more disciplines than in average adventure race, and also infinitely variable setting in the southern coast of Finland.

And you may also meet those friendly yokels – and they might serve you currant juice and strawberries, as happened for some teams last time Endurance Quest was held.

Tough and nice

Endurance Quest is designed to be tough (600 km, 3 to 4 days) but not nasty. MTB sections consist of biking on beautiful small roads, not pushing or carrying the bike in the bush. Trekking is run on nicest parts of the forests and paddling is executed with kayaks that are designed for adventure racing.

One of the main goals of Endurance Quest is minimizing hassle for racers and make the race as even-handed as possible. This can be achieved by simplifying race concept, with very accurate Finnish maps and emphasize on as precise instructions as possible (for both racers and volunteers).

This year Endurance Quest will also emphasize the tactical element. The ‘quest’ part means this time that team has to solve how to share the tasks – or do them together.

World’s best tracking

“It was so addictive that I forgot to sleep.” Last time Endurance Quest was held followers all around the world praised the super accurate live GPS tracking system. The system is based on cellular networks and is not only many times more accurate than satellite based systems but also much more versatile and feature rich. If you don’t believe, replay last Endurance Quest here: http://www.tulospalvelu.fi/gps/20120724enduranceQ/?v=4

This year we will also provide live video feed from parts of the race. So mark 22th to 26th July 2014 on your calendar and follow the race.
