The Snow Epic
The Snow Epic is Coming
News Release / 04.12.2014

The inaugural Snow Epic is only 2 months away and the first snow has fallen in Engelberg. Last week we were out testing and making final changes to the trails. We’ve had to wait 8 months since our April test ride to properly ride the snow trails again, and it’s been worth the wait!
Riders from across the planet have entered the inaugural Snow Epic. They’ll bring their fatbikes to Engelberg from as far afield as Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Czech, England, Germany, Italy, Namibia, Netherlands, Norway, Puerto Rico, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, UAE, USA and of course, Switzerland. A total of 20 countries are represented.
Among the entrants are elite athletes such as the first ever Olympic mountain biking gold medallist, Bart Brentjens of the Netherlands, Switzerland’s Esther Süss, the 2010 woman’s marathon world champion and Namibia’s Mannie Heymans, who won the first editions of both the BIKE Transalp and our other Epic, the Absa Cape Epic.

From Sand to Snow!
There are 9 avid fat bikers from Namibia who normally ride their fat bikes on the desert sands of the Skeleton Coast that will travel to Engelberg. For many of them it will be their first fat bike experience on snow! Then we also have experienced snow riders from Alaska and Canada.
It’s not too late to join the inaugural Snow Epic – start places are still available.
