the hARz Adventure Race 2015
The hARz 5th Edition - Do-able for all Adventurers
News Release / 25.02.2015

Teams from all other Europe and beyond are preparing for the 5th edition of the hARz adventure race in the Harz-mountains of Northern Germany from April 24th-26th 2015. With two months to go the teams have some time left to prepare for this years race. In previous editions it wasn't possible to get permits for a water section, which meant the teams had to run and cycle even more. But now there will be a canoeing section which will make the event even more interesting but not easier because the racing time has been extended by 2 hours.
As in all editions the race attracts many international teams. It's already an international mix as the organisation is Dutch and mixes Dutch and German volunteers working smoothly together. Teams from Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, France and even Australia, Estonia, and Croatia have signed up for this year’s race.
The Race Director has been working hard with his crew and German contacts to offer the racers a great adventure. "It's a great course again. We thought it couldn't get much better after 2013 but while testing the course co-partner Raymond Koudijs and me had smiles all over while enjoying the view, the bike pushing, the old city orienteering and the peddling section" organizer Winfried Bats explains.
The race offers a few categories which makes it easier to experience the feel of adventure racing.
The PRO racers will have 34 hours to complete the course. In the CHALLENGER category the teams have a mandatory rest, 4 and 6 hours at the most. In this way teams can race long but still get some rest.
New in this year’s edition is the ESTARFETTE category. Teams with 3 to 4 racers and a one-person support team can enter as well. Two racers must be on the course all the times. They can adjust the team formation at the transition areas in which they can switch seven times. It’s a great way for teams who are enthusiastic about the sport but feel the bar is set too high to experience the whole race. Team building new-style.
