Maya Mountain Challenge Announces Partnership With YB Tracking
News Release / 30.10.2015

NAARS founder Doug Crytzer and MMAC Race Director Julia Crytzer are proud to announce a partnership with YB Tracking to provide tracking services and live coverage of the 2016 Maya Mountain Adventure Challenge. Each of the teams will be carrying the YB tracking device along the race course to provide race officials with the ability to monitor team location and progress. In combination, YB Tracking is also providing an integrated race viewer and leaderboard to provide friends and family members a first-hand view of the race as they follow their teams across the jungle.
“After much research and consideration, we are very excited about having YB Tracking onboard,” says Julia. “We have tried numerous tracking devices in the past but have experienced undependable coverage and battery life. YB’s reputation for delivering dependable and consistent coverage superior to other trackers on the market absolutely played into our decision. Our race course enters some of the most remote corners of the jungle with dense canopy and deep ravines. Having dependable trackers is critical to ensuring we have uninterrupted service to locate teams as needed.”
But beyond just safety and logistics, the Crytzers are excited about the opportunity YB provides to customize the viewing experience for fans around the world. “NAARS is committed to our mission of growing the sport of adventure racing,” says Doug, “and we believe that depends on the ability to make the sport more spectator-friendly. In a race where teams are often separated by miles and days, friends and family often feel very disconnected from the race. But YB’s beautiful and interactive web interface allows them to feel like they are a part of the experience by providing details on the course and all teams. Creating that connection and excitement absolutely inspires support for the sport if not a desire to participate in future events.”
We at NAARS hope this means that many more of you can join us in 2016 for the MMAC – even if virtually! Of course, if you’d rather be here in person, we’re still looking for volunteers. Come join us for an epic event as we host racers from around the world and continue our support of Friends of Conservation and Development (www.fcdbelize.org).
