OMM ICELAND - The Iconic UK Mountain Race Heads to Iceland

May see's the return of the OMM back in Iceland. The 2 day course takes competitors deep into the heart of Iceland. As with the UK event teams are on their own and must carry camping kit and supplies. 

Choosing your route though volcano's and hot springs is a unique challenge for the competitors. Teams use their 7 hours to find as many checkpoints as they can before heading to the wild camp at the bottom of an active volcano. 

Checkpoints next to steam vents or on top of volcano's are expected by the planners whose courses create a very real adventure for the competitors. 

Last year’s course took the competitors from the southern coast at Grindavik into the heart of the country. The course planners don't make it easy sending the competitors into area of Iceland that are yet to be mapped. 

The Blue lagoon awaits the finishers, runners can cross the finish line and run straight into the naturally heated waters.  

A Glacial Start for 2016

On May 28th the 2016 event sees the runners head deeper into the Icelandic wilds. Starting at the foot of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, the competitors must navigate some of the newest terrain on the planet.
