Registration is Open For the Ecuador Maxi Race

The first Edition of the 2016 Ecuador Maxi Race will take place in the famous ‘Andean volcanos region’ on the 29 of October, in Ecuador. During this race, you will run through the three highest volcanoes of the country: Chimborazo 6310m, Cotopaxi 5897m and Cayambe 5790m.

Originally scheduled in September, the race director has decided to change the event date because of the recent earthquake.

This trail, located in Ecuador, will offer to you a beautiful and unforgettable journey in the centre of the word, with lagoons, volcanoes and high altitude tracks. All the races will take place above 3500m and some paths will climb to 4800m. Being acclimatized will be mandatory!

This event will be directed by Proyecto Aventura, organiser since 13 years of many outdoor events (including the Adventure Race World Championship in 2014) consulting with Maxi-Events, the Annecy based Maxi-Race organiser.

Programme:

· 4 races : 2,5km (for the children), 10km, 20km and 52km with 2600 meters of ascent

Extraordinary Landscapes

At the south of Quito, at the foot of the Ilinizas volcano (5248m), trailers will run on the volcano slopes to join the Huagrahuasi green desert, at the heart of Los Ilinizas, a nature reserve.

Starting from Corrales Viejos refuge, at 3500m, the Ultra Trail will be the longest race with 52km and 2600m of ascent and will climb Illiniza volcano. This volcano, located at fifty km at the south of Quito in Ecuador, is composed of two summits: Illiniza North, at an altitude of 5116m, and Iliniza south at 5248m, which is very snowy.

The Ultra Trail competitors, will climb very fast to the north summit which is the highest point of the race at an altitude of 4770m. After a long descent, they will always stay above 3500m of altitude. During allthe race, they will enjoy various landscapes with exceptional descents and ascents and an unforgettable view of Cotopaxi, Quilotoa (3914m) and Cardiaques (4790m) volcanoes.

The 18km race as also a strong character with 983m of ascent and a peak at 4127m.

The 9km race has 487m of ascent and a peak at 3785m.

The 2,6km race has 125m of ascent and a peak at 3555m.
