Hebridean Challenge on ‘Grandstand’ this Sunday
Rob / 15.05.2002

This Sunday’s showing of a 10 minute feature on the recent One.Tel Hebridean Challenge is the first time Adventure Racing has made it onto the BBC\'s prime sports show, apart from news items on ‘oddball’ racers.
Grandstand was the first mainstream sports show, and for a long time it was the only one. Even though richer satellite channels are now buying up the big name events the show still has huge prestige and for a ‘minority sport’ like AR getting a 10 minute slot is great news – it will showcase our sport to even more people.
There could hardly be a more scenic setting for the footage either, shot by Adventure Racing experts Dream Team T.V. in superb weather in the wonderful Western Isles.
Dream Team followed the teams on their 300 mile journey them from the Isle of Barra in the South to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, right through to the dramatic final moments. It’s good news for the British Championship too as Hebridean Challenge was a qualifying event.
The broadcast will be shown this Sunday 19th May on BBC2 Sunday Grandstand at about 16:20. If you’re out (at the Quest race maybe) remember to set your video. There are photos and more on the Dream Team TV web site, and if you delve into our ever-growing Race Reports section you can see all the daily reports and picture galleries.
