UTMB Creates Partnership to Develop Races in China
Press Release / 27.09.2016

Autour du Mont-Blanc - creators and organisers of the UTMB® - and OC Sport - a global sports marketing and events company specialising in professional sailing and outdoor sports - have joined forces to sign a long term cooperation agreement with Beijing Xingzhi Exploring. This contract with one of Asia’s leading outdoor events organisers will focus on developing and structuring the organisation of new trail running events in China and more generally in Asia.
Catherine Poletti, Managing Director of Autour du Mont-Blanc, stated: “We are delighted by this agreement which strengthens the development of our company internationally. Chinese runners have shown great enthusiasm for trail running while the number of races in their country is still limited. With this agreement we will be part of the creation of international events within China, which will be open to all and organised with very high quality standards. We are pleased to contribute to the structure on the Asian continent of a rapidly expanding sporting activity”.
Rémi Duchemin, Founder and Executive Director of OC Sport, commented: “OC Sport is already very active in Asia, and China in particular, through several events and campaigns in professional sailing. We are happy to expand our activities in this region by contributing towards the development of trail running in the fastest-growing continent for the sport. The partnership between OC Sport and Autour du Mont-Blanc is complementary. As a company we will deliver an operational and commercial support to Beijing Xingzhi Exploring. Autour du Mont-Blanc will continue the development of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc, which will remain the World Summit of Trail Running, while bringing its unique expertise to the creation of new events in Asia”.
