QUESTARS Venue Changes

Rob / 13.06.2005
There have been some venue changes to the remaining Questars races this year, though the dates remain as advertised.

One reason is the success of the new fleet of sit-on-top kayaks, used at the sell-out first race of the year in Wales. As a result the organising team looked to extend the canoeing stage, to give everyone more chance to enjoy the paddling and have lined up some wonderful locations for the series, including the beautiful Beaulieu River for the canoe stage of the New Forest event.

Due to the lack of suitable water for the longer paddling stage in or near Sherwood Forest the venue for the next Questars in the Midlands has been changed. Questars 2 on Saturday 9th July is now on Cannock Chase with the kayaking on a very scenic stretch of the River Trent. Anyone who has raced there before will know it’s a very accessible yet deceptively challenging area.

To ensure the right tidal conditions for the paddling stage of in the New Forest this is now going to be the last in the series using the 8th October date, with the event based right in the heart of the forest.

This means that the third event in the series will be in the Vale of Pewsey, Wiltshire, which is a favourite with Questars regulars, and will include new areas of the beautiful North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

So the remaining events in the Questars 2005 series are now:

Questars 2 - Saturday 9 July - Cannock Chase

Questars 3 - Saturday 13 August - Vale of Pewsey

Questars 4 - Saturday 8 October - New Forest

With the best three scores counting towards the series prizes, there is still opportunity for those that missed out on the initial event in the series in the Brecon Beacons in April to qualify for the series prize. Full details are on www.questars.co.uk.
