With our title sponsors YETI having recently signed a partnership agreement with the AR EuroSeries organization, we are proud to announce that the Yeti Adventure Challenge Silkeborg will be hosting the 2020 Adventure Race European Championship.

For years, we have been building competence, network and experience, had numerous talks with local and international Adventure Race profiles and we are now ready to put all our knowledge into designing a great race that will showcase both nature and heritage and also stage adventure racing in an urban environment to hopefully reach thousands of spectators, once again.

Having grown from a small scale race in the woods around Silkeborg, YACS has now become Denmarks undisputed primary race, with 500 participants racing 3 courses across regions, taking them through lakes, moors, woods, hills and windy coastlines. Traditionally, YACS starts and ends in urban surroundings, gathering huge crowds to cheer contestants along and to bring some much-needed attention and volume to the sport. Nathan Fa’avae (NZ) described the race as “a contribution in growing adventure race” after his Team Seagate finished 2nd in 2016.

Why Race In Denmark?

Let’s be honest. There are no high mountains in Denmark. None.

What we do have is hills. Lots of them. And lakes. Lots of them, too. We also have more coastline per landmass than any other country. No matter where you are, you are never more than 50 km away from the sea.

So in many ways, Denmark offers a completely unique adventure racing landscape, that will never allow you to reach your comfort zone. You will constantly be faced with changes in inclination, grip and surroundings. And telling one hill from the next on the map can be quite challenging if you are not familiar with the dense forests.

So there are plenty of reasons to sign up for the 2019 edition of the race, that could earn you a European Championship title in 2020.

YACS 2019 / EuroSeries will be held from Sep. 5th-8th 2019. Registration is open.

YACS 2020 / European Championship will be held in September.
