XPD Responds to Entry Deluge

Rob Howard / 19.07.2005
After an overwhelming response from teams for the second XPD, to be held in Tasmania next February, race organisers Geocentric, have added an additional 10 places to the original limit of 30 teams, but those too have already been filled.

The organisers will now meet with land managers in Tasmania in mid September and discuss the possibility of increasing the size of the field again, and the results of these talks will be released in early October. So teams from around the world are still being encouraged to enter to be put on a wait list, in the hope there may be a few more places available.

The race is Australia’s own expedition length adventure race and will see teams navigating their way through 650+kms of trekking, mountain biking, kayaking and rope works, non-stop and unsupported for up to 10 days.

The first race took place in August last year in the Outback (see our full race coverage here) and for 2006 the organising team are promising to take competitors to the "End of the World", deep into the rugged wilderness of Tasmania.
The success of that first race, the exciting venue and the booming AR scene in Australia have all contributed to the amazing response to XPD version II.
