An AR Club for the Midlands
Rob / 19.06.2002

Southern Spiders, the UK’s only adventure racing club may be expanding into the Midlands and are planning a first meeting this Friday to discuss the idea.
The ‘Spiders’ were set up by Simon Coppen-Gardner as an informal club, open to adventure racers of all abilities and have been growing steadily. Recently they’ve been gaining between 2 and 5 members a week and there are now around 100 racers in the club. They have a social get together every month in London and in recent races have got together several teams. There is more information on the club web site.
After numerous enquiries about racers from the Midlands wanting to get together a meeting has been organised by Dawn Hopley along with Nick Wake of Questars and a few other interested racers for this Friday, June 21st at 8.00 pm,. The venue is The Malt Shovel public house, which is just by Junction 6 of the M42, the exit for Birmingham International Airport and the NEC. If you want to go along take the A45 towards Coventry and turn off on the A452. Dawn has asked anyone planning to go along to let her know by e-mail.
It could be the start of an interesting development for AR in the UK.
