RIF Spirit Postpoined to the Autumn due to forecast Bad Weather
Press Release / 30.03.2022

Raid in France has announced the postponement of the RIF Spirit 24 hour race, which was due to take place over the coming weekend (April 1st-3rd).
Race Director Pascal Bahuaud issued the following statement;
"Due to the harsh weather forecast expected in Haute-Loire this weekend, we have decided to postpone RIF Spirit to the autumn 2022. This decision is heartbreaking for our whole team, but it is necessary.
"The forecast for the weekend is horrid: with snow, rain, negative temperatures and high winds expected. Therefore, we had two options: to cut some of the route and sections (all of the white water and ropes sections), or to reschedule. The idea of offering a reduced route, and not meeting our standards, or the racers and partners expectations isn’t conceivable.
Another vital criteria in the decision was to guarantee the racers and volunteers' safety.
We are devastated and frustrated, however, we are not willing to take any risks… and the risks, with such weather, are too great to go ahead.
The entry fees for the teams who are not able to race in the autumn will be entirely refunded and the others rolled on to the new race date. We will be back again later in the year, but the disappointment is huge.
Thankfully, we already have our minds on Raid in France 2022 in Savoie Mont Blanc, scheduled for June. And on a wonderful Rif Spirit in the autumn.
