Toyota Tundra to Sponsor 2022 USARA Race Season
Press Release / 05.04.2022
The U.S. Adventure Racing Association (USARA) has signed a major partnership agreement with GearJunkie. The agreement includes Toyota Tundra as headline sponsor and GearJunkie as official media partner for USARA's 2022 season.
GearJunkie, a digital publication with millions of readers, will launch a content channel to cover the sport of adventure racing. The media company, which is based in Denver and Minneapolis, will also be forming two competitive teams to participate in 10+ adventure races throughout 2022.
Toyota branding will be present at USARA events across the United States. Toyota plans to have all-new 2022 Tundra trucks on display at USARA-sanctioned races, including the USARA National Championship on September 16-17.
“We could not be more excited for this partnership,” USARA Executive Director Michael Garrison said. “The GearJunkie project and the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra sponsorship will allow us to reach a massive audience while providing additional budget to support our efforts to grow the sport."
Garrison noted the sponsorship will enable the non-profit to advance initiatives like the Women in AR campaign; individual mentoring for race directors; and the support of a new Regional Championship circuit of events.
USARA has been the national organizing body of U.S. adventure racing since 1998. It provides safety standards and offers insurance for race directors. In 2020, a new leadership group assumed responsibility of USARA and is restructuring USARA as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
“This major corporate commitment from a premier outdoor media brand will support our efforts to expand USARA’s reach and impact,” USARA Board Chair Abby Perkiss said. "It’s a validation of the hard work the organization is doing to level up the sport of adventure racing across the United States."
About USARA: As the governing body of adventure racing in the United States, USARA's mission is to ensure the enduring success of the sport by strengthening and supporting the existing community of racers, directors, and enthusiasts; creating pathways for new adventurers to enter the sport; and engaging with the greater outdoor community in the US to highlight what an amazing sport it is.
