Raid The North 3-day Championships - Sept 22 to 25 2005
26.08.2005

The 3-day, non-stop, Canadian Championship event will challenge teams to navigate their way through a professionally developed, unmarked, 250+ km course of majestic wilderness and terrain. Teams will mountain bike, trek, negotiate rappels and rope sections, as well as charge their way through white water rapids via canoes and rafts. Skill with a map and compass are as critical as fit lungs and legs.
The event offers teams new to the challenge and reward of adventure racing the chance to line up against Lawrence Foster and Dave Zeitsma -
internationally recognized top athletes in the sport. The course itself has been crafted by veteran competitor Bob Miller, an icon in the sport (see the SleepMonsters report).
\"Although this course has been constructed with the expert racer in mind, we have also created several options within the race itself so that teams that are not as experienced can still come out and compete against some of the legends of Canadian adventure racing and not feel that they are in over their heads\", said FAR\'s Geoff Langford, \"the challenge is really against yourself, and for this event we have opened the registration to all formats of teams. Teams as small as 2 can compete, and there is no requirement to field a team of mixed gender. Each team will be ranked in the category they fit into. It\'s an elite event, but we\'ve tailored the Champs to be available to all outdoor enthusiasts.
With a noon start, spectators will easily be able to take in the action and adrenaline. Maps and directions will be available at Raid the North basecamp at Wilderness Tours Adventure Resort.
There are many exciting volunteer opportunities still open to people that would like to take part but not race. Volunteers receive a race t-shirt and gift bag, as well as tickets to the season ender wrap-up party.
