Try a Dynamic Adventure
Rob / 04.08.2002

The newest event on the calendar is coming up shortly and it’s aimed particularly at newcomers to Adventure Racing, though it’s not exactly a race.
Dynamic Adventure is the idea of racers Nicky and Simon Thomas and Jonathan Mayne, who will be holding their inaugural event on September 1st, though they hope it will be the first of many. Here’s how Simon describes the concept:
†It’s an adventure race designed to be achievable for newcomers to the sport. There will be 2 stages, a 2 hour run/trek stage on foot and a 3 hour bike ride, and participants are expected to plot and plan their own routes for both. We’ll introduce them to the essential disciplines of map reading, using a compass, route planning and time management, and so as not to frighten newcomers the event will not be competitive but levels of achievement will be identifiedâ€
â€However, Dynamic Adventure also offers an ideal training opportunity for the more experienced. The venue will be in the North Downs and is therefore easily accessible from London and South East. Hopefully, the first event will be followed by a winter event and a series next year with locations rotating around the outskirts of London. Our friendly team of marshals, who are all experienced adventure racers, will be on hand to offer help and advice as part of the day. It’s important to stress that rather than being perceived as a competitor to the already established races, Dynamic Adventure see their role at the entry level, in the hope that people will enjoy the experience and feel capable and confident of moving on to the Ace Races and Quest events.â€
The event is open to solos, pairs and teams of 3 or 4, and the entry fees are £15, £30 and £40 respectively. It’s a great idea and good value, and if you want to go along there are full details and a link to their website in our calendar.
