Pack your gear for great Team Sunsweet events in 2006!
April 22, Red Bluff- 3rd Annual Sunsweet Tehama Extreme and Not So Extreme. The Tehama races will be back with all new courses featuring the rugged
volcanic wonderland north of Red Bluff. Since last year, the Bureau of Land Management has opened more trails for trekking and biking pleasure, plus we’ll take you to spectacular new areas filled with wildflowers, canyons, the ubiquitous volcanic rock, and of course, the Sacramento River. What’s on tap for 2006? Think “salmonâ€â€¦ The Extreme is an 8-12 hour race, and the Not So Extreme is a 3-5 hour race perfect for the beginning racer. Entry fees are a bargain $120 and $50, and include a stylish shirt, post race food, and plenty of Sunsweet dried fruit. Proceeds go to the Dairyville Community Club and SWEAT Running Club for college scholarships to future farmers and
runners.
July 22-23, Oakridge, OR- Sunsweet Trail Running Festival. Improve your trail running skills at our festival weekend as a soloist or as a relay team, because adventure racers need to run too! Saturday’s events include a 5 mile hillclimb, a 5 mile downhill run, and a 10 mile flat(ish) run (with relay option). Sunday is 50K day (with relay option), starting at the longest covered bridge in Oregon and taking in the sights of the Willamette
River Valley. Run solo or bring your team to collectively tackle the runs, for CASH and other prizes! Entry includes Saturday dinner with plenty of fun and interpretive events for the whole family. Camp, run, eat, and enjoy the many rivers, lakes, and streams. Courses were designed by Team Sunsweet member Bev Anderson, 2005 Masters National Champion at 50K and 50M. If you really need something else to convince you to come up, run Saturday and ride the annual Oakridge Fat Tire XC Mountain bike race on Sunday. Once you run/ride Oakridge, you’ll want to come back. Oakridge is located 40 miles SE of Eugene on Highway 58, and worth the trip.
