Open 24 Heads for the Dales

Entries have now opened for the 2006 Open24 which takes place on the 29/30th July. Following the success of this year’s inaugural race, 2006 will see yet more adventures to raise the eyebrows of Adventure Racers in the Yorkshire Dales.

The Open24 aims to appeal to hardened racers as well as beginners who want to take a foray in to the longer events. The events are structured so that those wanting to take life a little easier can find somewhere to rest, while still being able to experience the thrill of the “Trouser Fillers” prepared by race organiser James Thurlow.

He says “The Yorkshire Dales has so much to offer the Adventure Racer with the natural environment providing the ideal playground”. Disciplines and challenges are still in the planning stage, however James is confident that the 2006 event will surpass that of this year, which was widely acclaimed as one of the races of the year.

2006 also sees new sponsors on board with Mountain Hardwear, Merrell, EAS and Total Adventure all set to support Open Adventure. Anquet maps is also providing 20% off electronic mapping for Open24 competitors.

The entry fee of £200 per pair is discounted to £180 for those who enter before April 1st 2006.
