Top teams gear up for Race Two of Arabian Quest Race Series

Rob Howard / 09.01.2006
Some very experienced teams of adventure racers will converge on Ras Al Khaimah for the second race of the Arabian Quest Race Series on January 27th.

“We have an exceptional crowd in this race, including the 2003 G4 Challenge runner up Chris Perry and a team from the Trailblazers Adventure Racing Club in the USA, “said John Falchetto, Race Director.

American Chris Perry, who works as a water park manager in Dubai represented Arabia in the first G4 Challenge in 2004 and missed winning the grueling event by seconds. He sees his management skills and physical toughness as a combination that's ideally suited to success in this awesome competition. Chris describes adventure as 'Pushing your personal limits both physically and mentally'.

James Drysdale, from Scotland is a veteran of the race most see as the forerunner of today’s adventure races, the Karrimor International Mountain Marathon. Drysdale will be racing with Deutsch G4 Challenge participant Wouter Kingma. Another top British racer taking part is Steven ‘Ski’ Sharp, who has raced in most of the World’s major events, and is currently working across the border in Oman.

Team Reverisco from Trailblazers Adventure Racing Club, Columbia, South Caroline, USA brings lots of stamina and experience to the race. “We are stoked about being able to do this race. It’s great to see AR growing in different parts of the world and the folks back at Trailblazer AR are green with envy,” said the team captain.

One should also keep an eye on local teams. Winner of the March 2005 Arabian Quest, John Young will bring his extensive knowledge of the mountains and legendary speed in the hills to the race. Although absent at race 1 in November 2005, Young is determined to make an impression on Jan. 27.
