Tribal Games – The Challenge of a lifetime
Rob Howard / 19.01.2006

If you\'ve got what it takes to race across mountains with indigenous Indians in Mexico, wrestle with fierce Nuba wrestlers in Sudan, compete in traditional stone lifting challenges in Tahiti, or take part in fire throwing contests in the Northern Territories of Australia, this is your chance!
Tribal Games will follow 6 adventurers immersing themselves deep in the worlds of indigenous sport, for a series to be shown on BBC3 and the Discovery Channel.
Those selected will travel the globe competing in 8 of the most unusual, fascinating competitions the planet has to offer.
They might go to Tajikistan to take part in Buzkashi, a game where horse back riders wrestle over a goat, or to the Amazon to join Amazonian Indians in the indigenous spear throwing, running, and canoeing contests. They will compete against the locals but also against each other.
They will live alongside the local competitors, be coached by them and follow the same rituals and preparations. No concessions will be made. So if the competition demands the placing of curses, sacrifice, intense meditation or simply covering their bodies in butterfat and charcoal to protect them from the cold ... that is what they’ll do.
