Open Nordic Adventure Championship 2006

Rob Howard / 14.02.2006
It’s not only ARWorld Championship which is taking place in Scandinavia and Sweden this year. Between May 25th and 28th the 9th edition of the TietoEnator Adventure Race is being held as the “Open Nordic Adventure Racing Championship”. The race will take place in the region of Värmland, North of Vänern (the biggest lake in Sweden).

The Race Director Mathias Carling and his crew are all experienced Adventure Racers themselves, and have spent many years as competition organizers. “The idea to stage an Open Nordic Championship came up during the race in 2005,” Carling said, “and we are looking forward to seeing teams from all over Europe, as well as from Scandinavia.”

“The whole idea of our competition is to have a low entry fee and to give teams a hard non-stop race,” he added. “Since Karlstad Multisport took over the competition in 2002 we have developed the race every year. This year we have added some more rope works and a great flying fox.”

The race is legendary in Scandinavia as the oldest non-stop adventure race and many Scandinavian adventure racers have started their racing careers in this race. The winners for the 5 previous years are;

2001 Team Maybe
2002 Team Silva
2003 Lundhags Adventure
2004 Lundhags Adventure
2005 FK Herkules
