Changes to Adventure Race Slovenia
Rob Howard / 22.02.2006

Teams who have taken part in previous years have commented how friendly and enthusiastic the organisation is and how fantastic the scenery is to race through – though the accuracy of the maps presents and extra challenge.
This year the course is 250km, including several swims, rope and canyoning stages, with the race starting and finishing in the main square in the town of Velenje, as it has in previous years.
This year Race Director Peter Vrckovnik has made some changes to the race plan. Firstly, he’s responded to the fact the race attracts teams of very different abilities and will offer more short-course options, with the biggest short-cut taking 100km off the route!
There will be more emphasis on navigation in the shorter sections, and even the use of some aerial photos. Route choice will remain open and some sections teams will be allowed to divide into pairs, or even solos, and to complete the stage separately. He’s also promised more biking and less trekking than in previous years.
Entry is 500 Euros per team and can be made online via the race website, which is in English and Slovenian. You can see all the race details here.
