Easter in Ireland?
Rob Howard / 24.03.2006

It will be held in the stunning North Coast area of Northern Ireland which is home to some of the best surf beaches in Europe, stunning sea cliffs for the climbing enthusiasts and of course, the world famous Giants Causeway.
Pick-ups will be arranged from ports and airports in the area for anyone who doesn\'t want to drive and B&B accommodation is even included the night before and after the race.
Two races will be held at the same time - a 36hr non-stop race with compulsory check-points and a 2 day race with optional check-points and an enforced overnight stop which will be arranged for you in a community centre on the race course.
The race will start at Magilligan Army Training camp at the tip of Northern Ireland, whose facilities will be used for food and accommodation before and after the race. From here, teams will get to explore the area with about 40k kayaking, 100k mountain biking and 60k trekking. There will be a strong orienteering slant to the course and the secret disciplines will use brain as well as brawn, while letting you take in the scenery. Imagine kayaking with sheer cliffs on one side and the rolling hills of Donegal to the other.
Race registration on Friday evening will be before dinner (provided by the race organisers), then the race will begin on Saturday morning and after the race the party will be in a local hostelry with a pint or 2 of the black stuff! Sportident timing will be used and the hire of dibbers is included in the entry fee. There will be access to kit boxes at certain checkpoints during the race, but it is otherwise unsupported.
There are surf hire shops in the local area as well as National Trust properties, beaches, campsites and a whiskey distillery to keep the non-racers occupied. Entry is only £75 per person and all the details are on www.adventureireland.co.uk .
