Winter Racing in Patagonia
Rob Howard / 10.04.2006

On that day, the organizers of the Patagonia Expedition Race, reaching a new milestone in the annals of adventure racing, will start a new annual cycle of winter editions of the race.
The setting of this race will be impressive – Southern Patagonia in winter, the season in which Patagonia shows her most beautiful side. This new edition of the race is expected to comprise three stages in the region of Torres del Paine and then three stages in Tierra del Fuego.
The format of the race, and the equipment used in it, are all designed according to the weather conditions racers will experience in the Patagonian winter and details are on the event website.
Registration is open from Monday April 10th, and only 40 pairs will be able to enter – in the classifications of mixed pairs, female pairs, and male pairs. It’s sure to be a race which is an unforgettable experience and if you want to get an idea of the terrain in which it takes place there are over 3000 photos from past races now on the PER website.
This is one race we wouldn’t to miss on SleepMonsters and Jackie Windh, who has covered PER for us before, will once again be on the spot, delivering a mix of informative daily race coverage and breathtaking photography from the end of the world.
