Pharmanex – Endeavour (14) - Continuing unranked. Problems began early in the race when Sibusiso Mkhize, experienced difficulty digesting the hi-tech food and started to vomit. Unable to swallow he was also incapable of drinking liquids and the symptoms of dehydration began to take hold. By the time the team reached CP5, Sibusiso, close to collapse, was immediately put on a drip by the doctor and forbidden to continue the race. Atropos (45) - Continuing unranked. At 18h30 on 29th April Linda White was given an IV-drip suffering from severe dehydration. Crossmax, the team led by Salomon CEO Jean-Luc Diard, has decided to continue unranked after he was forced to abandon on the first MTB section, following the initial 121km trek. “I’m used to the mountains and racing in extremely low temperatures presents no problems whatsoever for me. However, I just can’t take this degree of heat. I had no idea how I would react in such tropical conditions - but now I do he explained.Copyright www.raidgauloises.com
