AR Team Ukraine Move Into The Lead On Day 2
Press Release / 31.08.2019
This was a very long day full of paddling at the Wenger Czech Adventure Race. Gaps between teams enlarged. Racers were riding back to the race centre, grabbing their paddles and heading for the second canoe stage, a 30km long paddle on a reservoir which took them about six hours.
In the evening, AR Team from Ukraine came back to shore as the 3rd but than they speeded up and made no mistakes on the following trek, passing the leading Swedihs and even the leading Czech team Salomon Suunto CZ AR.
In the morning, Swedish team Kolmården Adventures withdrew from the 2nd place. Half of the team drank some bad water at the beginning of the trek and had gastric problems. Two members are still on their way and slept 30 minutes during the first night.
The tactics of the teams differ team to team. The fastest did not sleep at all, some others have taken up to three hours. Even eating habbits are different. Team HSK Benecko, currently on the 4th place, had a cheeseburger and fries in local snack bar.
While the ARES race continued the MINI Adventure Race – 18 hours long event for two-member teams, started from event HQ. There was a majorl change in schedule: due to yacht races on Saturday the race had to start with night coasteering rather than on the water.
