CROSS ORIENTEERING (adventure running) - Progression on foot over varying terrain using a compass and map. At least one team member must be able to use a GPS adequately.
MOUNTAIN BIKING– “Cross-country� style progression by mountain-bike over varying terrain (gravel, mud, sand etc.). Teams may use any type (suspended, rigid, semi-rigid) or number of bikes during a race.
INLINE SKATING - Progress on inline skates on an asphalt road. Teams may use any type or number of skates during a race.
CANOEING - Progression using inflatable canoes supplied by the organisation. The usage of “Canadian� canoe paddles (single blade) is compulsory. Any means of progress employing the wind is permitted. Teams may use personal paddles but may not use personal canoes.
ROPE ACTIVITIES - (abseiling, flying fox, Cable Bridge, etc.) Progression on equipment set up by the organisation.
CRAMPONING - Progression on foot using crampons over ice or snow. The type of crampons and shoes used must conform to the criteria defined by the organisation.
HORSE RIDING – The horses are supplied by the organisation. Each athlete rides a horse. The itinerary of the horse-riding section includes a certain number of obligatory stops where the horses must rest. At the start of the section, at the finish and at certain points along the section, a vet will verify the physical state of the horses. A horse must not carry a load of more than 120kg, saddle, rider and mandatory equipment included. A penalty will be given to any team that has a horse stopped on the section due to medical reasons.
RAFTING - Progression down class 3-4 rapids in a raft supplied by the organisation. The organisation will also supply a professional rafting guide for each team.
