A Word with the Winners
Fredrik Olmqvist / 03.12.2004

The sun peeked between the clouds and the wind was of the usual Patagonian trademark when Nike ACG/Balance Bar reached the finish line at 09:45 am local time.
Here are some comments they made on the “podium about the race:
“It has been an incredible year for us – and of course this is a fantastic way to finish a great season. Ian Adamson
“It was a difficult race for us, and a very challenging course, hands up for the course designer and for all teams that come through this course. Michael Kloser
“I’m soo tired, I almost can\'t speak. It was definitely one of the toughest races I have done. This is a very beautiful country with spectacular scenery. Danelle Ballange
“It was the best race course - period! (affirmative noddings from the others). All the other teams are friends – and we are a little worried for those who are still fighting to find their way out of the \'jungle\' to reach the canoes. Michael Tobin
How do you rate winning The Raid World Championship?
“This race truly had the best competition and the best teams ever in an Adventure Race. The course was very varying and technical – it was really a testing course.
What was the key to the success?
“We are a team of 6. Our assistants have made a terrific job. They have been asking around and done the thinking when we didn’t have the energy.
Which was the decisive moment in the race?
“We were lucky to find the right trail last night, just before dark. The trails are very old and overgrown; it’s very hard to find the right trail – also in daylight. In this race “route finding have been the most important factor. Also, when we found the right trekking trail right after CP 39, thanks to this we were able to pass the Brits and could cover some distance quite easily.
