X-adventure - The Raid World Cup 2005
Worth The Long Haul – A Look at Who is Here
John Michael-Flynn / 29.04.2005

In travelling terms Europeans refer to the journey ‘Down Under’ as a long haul.
But despite the stereotypes, the Englishmen (poms as Aussies call them) aren’t wingeing about coming this far to contest the opening round of the X-Adventure Raid World Cup.
The best of British, Team Saab Salomon, has made the journey south with meticulous planning, realizing there’s more than just a Raid World Championship qualifying place at stake, but scores to settle with the Englishman’s natural sporting enemy.
“There’s a lot of good Aussie teams in their back yard ... and they’re looking to show us up I think, Saab Salomon’s Jim Davies told Sleepmonsters during today’s equipment checks.
“That little rivalry between the Aussies and the Poms should be good, a lot of good European teams have come over as well, being the first race of the series everyone will be looking to put their mark on the race.
Tipped to be formidable in the bike and run sections of this race, the ‘likely lads- and a lady’ from Saab Salomon (Jim Davies, Ben Bardsley, Phil Davies & Helen Jackson) who came so close to winning last year’s Raid World Championship, also have a trump card this weekend.
