The reason he's serious as he's partnering road running hot shot Mark Williams for the 3rd time in the Action Asia Challenge and want to make it straight who the new boys on the block are.
'Were ready and we've both been training consistently and want to win in December. It's a huge race for both of us as we've been preparing a long time on many disciplines', said Mandy.
Mandy finished the 300m swim in 10 minutes, 15k mountain bike in a phenomenal 55 minutes then 35 minutes on the run for a total finish time of 1 hour 39 minutes and 40 seconds over 12 minutes in front of Daniel Brown who finished in 1 hour 52 minutes and four seconds with 3rd going to Steve Benets in 1 hr 54 minutes and 8 seconds.
Sean Ho equally left no prisoners and walked over the women's competition in 2 hrs 26 minutes and 36 seconds, with Roushana Sjahsan in 2 hrs 55min and 53 sec and Paulette Disher in 2 hrs 55min 04 sec.
Competitors pushed organizers Action Asia Events to keep organizing more of the off road duathlons and triathlons with a couple sponsors actually asking the organizers to speak to them after the race.
'All I can say is I'm glad the 3 race off-road series is finished as it was extremely difficult to organize, but stoked that the last race had incredible weather, no accidents except the usual small things like twisted ankles and can now focus on the Challenge' said Race Director and Course Designer Michael Maddess.
Organizers were considering switching the time of the race to encourage competitors to go to Central to participate in the Central mass bike protest due to an outpouring of anger and determination among cyclists and cycling groups across Hong Kong to get greater respect for the rights and needs of cyclists as legitimate road users, but Action Asia had not enough time to make changes and notify all competitors so kept the 9:30am start as scheduled and encouraged them to go after.
Many of the participating competitors were really upset about Brendan Chiu's death on November 6th, killed by a minibus overtaking on a double white line, during a road race competition, triggering an outpouring of anger among mountain bike and road bike cyclists to get the Hong Kong government to support cycling more with the view of increasing the awareness and understanding of cyclists' right to share our roads safely.
