The Crew is Set

Last night was the final volunteer meeting before the race. This meeting was very important because it was the last time the volunteers would be with Andres Vargas, the Race Director, without racers around. The secret course was discussed in full detail. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to give any details of the course until after the race starts. To prevent any competitors from planning to well for the race, maps of the course will be released from checkpoint to checkpoint to the racers. Daily maps will be available to the public in the Maps Photo Gallery.

What I can tell you is the group of volunteers for this race are from the University of Costa Rica. Most of the students, including our very own Sergio Sanchez, Logistics Manager for the race, are from the Engineering School. Many of them have never worked on a race before, but are very eager to get out on the course.

The entire race staff was there for the meeting. One of the Assistant Race Directors, Randall Bermudez, raced in the Eco-Challenge Fiji. Sergio Sanchez's Adventure Racing background includes Logistical Manager for the Coast to Coast here in Costa Rica. For a very young group of Adventure Race Staff, they all have a strong Adventure Racing background. If the planning stages are any indication of what is to come, this race is sure to be a fun-filled, action packed adventure.
