Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge
Rowing Legends Go Head to Head
07.11.2006

McKay stepped in to the Challenge today, as part of the All Star celebrity team, replacing Shane Kelly, who was forced to take a rest day after suffering severe cramps towards the end of day one.
Cracknell said; “The last time I saw Mike was in Athens and we were meant to race him there, but his Foursome wasn’t fast enough to make the final. Cracknell went on to claim gold in the Coxless Fours that year while McKay had to settle for a bronze in the Men’s Eight.
Looking forward to an opportunity to get even, McKay was confident the day ahead would work out well for his team; “It’s great to see JC again. I’m looking forward to racing him again, but this time on terra firma.
After the 33km hike from Lake Ada to the Walls of Jerusalem and a short mountain bike stage, the teams took to the Mersey River for a white water rafting show down.
While Cracknell and McKay have the pedigree on the water, it was the women in the field who came out on top. The all-female Cadbury team, lead by Ironwoman and Personal Trainer, Grace McClure, surprised everyone by clocking the fastest time for the white water stage.
