Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge
The End is in Sight as the Challenge Hits the Streets Of Hobart
09.11.2006

Winds reaching up to 30 knots earlier today could make the waters off Porpoise Head choppy and challenging for the 12km kayak, which will kick off at 9pm this evening. But after a day of blue skies and beautiful scenery at Bruny Island, spirits are high in the competitor camp.
Solo round the world yachtswoman, Dee Caffari, is used to being on the water at night. Caffari said; “Today has been awesome – amazing scenery, but it was hardcore paddling into the head winds. We’re looking forward to tonight, it will be a totally different experience paddling in the dark.
Moving into the final day of competition on Friday, Webber’s Pure Tasmania team still hold a firm lead on the rest of the field as the Challenge hits Hobart on Friday for the closing stages.
Hobart will see competitors grapple with whole new set of challenges as they race around the streets of the Tasmanian capital, collecting the last checkpoints of the race.
The Hobart Urban Challenge will see Triple AFL Premiership player, Alistair Lynch join the competitors in what is to be a fun but gruelling course.
