The Costa Rica Coast to Coast Challenge Race
Frost in Costa Rica
Jacqueline Windh / 18.03.2007

We were at a lodge operated by the Seelye’s, an American family who came to Costa Rica about 30 years ago. Upon our arrival, daughter Janie appeared like a golden-haired angel in the night, offering racers and organizers alike hot meals, coffee, tea, and tasty home-made cakes.
We peppered Janie’s mother, Maxine, with questions about the teams who had already been through. Aditec (CR) had come in first, and Bones had shown up a couple hours later. Maxine had been really impressed by the differences between the teams. She said that Aditec arrived seeming really stressed “about everything, with Ligia’s feet badly blistered and Marco with som e very painful chafing around his groin. In contrast, when Bones arrived she said they were purely professional. The very first thing they did was take their shoes off and dry their food; the second thing was to get food (amply provided by the Seelyes), and then the third thing was to do an in-depth group check-in, to find out how everyone was doing, if they were having any problems, and to deal with foot issues.
