Mixed services team enters Keen Adventure Race to raise funds for charity.

What do you get when you combine a Policeman, a Fireman and a Paramedic who all share a sense of adventure and a desire to give back to the community? You get three special blokes who will race 400km down rivers, through caves and along rolling alpine summits as competitors in the Keen Adventure Race – Alps to the Ocean to raise funds for charity.

Fireman David Gorman, Paramedic Jack Garnett and Policeman Tim Hart are three ‘ordinary blokes’ who have joined forces as team ‘Keen to finish for charity’ and will compete in the Keen Adventure Race – Alps to the Ocean on April 8 – 12, 2008 to raise funds for others. The Keen Adventure Race will lead them on an epic journey from the rooftops of the Victorian Alps at Falls Creek and in 4 stages spread over 5 days they will complete one epic journey through a diverse range of landscapes to finish at Lakes Entrance on the mighty Southern Ocean.

The boys will be competing in the ‘2 of 3’ category, which means that at least two of them must be out on the course together, running, riding, paddling and adventuring their way in what can only be described as a ‘serious step up’ from their normal fitness regimes!

Beyond an experience they will never forget, the proceeds of their efforts will all be donated Australian-based charity The People and Parks Foundation (PPF). PPF is a not-for-profit group that was founded on the concept that a healthy environment, a healthy community and a healthy lifestyle are all inextricably linked. Their many programs cover a range of areas from highlighting the human health and wellbeing benefits of the outdoors to developing initiatives to care for and protect these environments today and into the future.
