Keen Adventure Race - Alps to the Ocean
Stage 3: A fast run over the hill...
Jacqueline Windh / 10.04.2008

Once again, Adventuresportsnz.com and Orionhealth.com Mixed were the lead teams off the morning’s paddle/orienteering challenge, starting the run up into the high country at about 7am.
In typical Jacoby fashion, there was no simple or obvious route to take to get to the next TA, at Big River. Rather, there were several options teams could choose: the longer, but easier-to-navigate route curving around the northern flank of the hill, to make a generally long and downhill run on a track; a shorter, more direct route over the hill that would have a few ups and downs along the way and a bit more navigation to descend on the correct spur, but cutting several kilometres off; or trying a track that veered off further south off the hill, but that would then take you towards the highway – which was forbidden to travel along.
